Security Guard

Full Time (32 hours) & Temporary (40 hours)

Pay Rate:

$20.00 per hour

Position Overview:

A professional security guard to protect Path of Life Community Shelter premises, assets, and personnel. The guard will maintain a high visibility presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions. 

The goal is to detect, deter, observe, and report.


Responsibilities:

  • Protecting POLM property, guest, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment

  • Observing for signs of noncompliance or disorder and investigating disturbances

  • Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property

  • Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences

  • Report any suspicious incidents in detail

  • Patrol building and perimeter randomly and regularly

  • Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates

  • Watch alarm systems detecting/emergency equipment

  • Perform first aid or CPR

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position

  • Trained security officer with diploma (guard card)

  • Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment

  • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols

  • Surveillance skills and detail orientation

  • Integrity and professionalism

  • Strong people and communication skills

  • High school diploma

Physical Requirements:

  • Environmental conditions are both, inside and outside.

  • Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four (4) hours in length.

  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.

  • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other departments of the shelter on a timely basis.

  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. as needed.

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.

  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with other staff, guests, and supervisors.

  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.

  • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed.

  • Ability to work primarily with fingers to pick, pinch, type and carry out substantial movements (motions) of the wrists and hands as well.

  • Have good vision with or without corrective lenses.
