Security Guard

Position Overview:
A professional security guard to protect Path of Life Community Shelter premises, assets, and personnel. The guard will maintain a high visibility presence and prevent all illegal or inappropriate actions.
The goal is to detect, deter, observe, and report.
Responsibilities:
Protecting POLM property, guest, and staff by maintaining a safe and secure environment
Observing for signs of noncompliance or disorder and investigating disturbances
Act lawfully in direct defense of life or property
Take accurate notes of unusual occurrences
Report any suspicious incidents in detail
Patrol building and perimeter randomly and regularly
Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates
Watch alarm systems detecting/emergency equipment
Perform first aid or CPR
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position
Trained security officer with diploma (guard card)
Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
Surveillance skills and detail orientation
Integrity and professionalism
Strong people and communication skills
High school diploma
Physical Requirements:
Environmental conditions are both, inside and outside.
Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to four (4) hours in length.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other departments of the shelter on a timely basis.
Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. as needed.
Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with other staff, guests, and supervisors.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment as needed.
Ability to work primarily with fingers to pick, pinch, type and carry out substantial movements (motions) of the wrists and hands as well.
Have good vision with or without corrective lenses.
